Funivie Piccolo San Bernardo: a bit of history

The first chairlift was built back in 1948 by a group of pioneers from La Thuile, at a time when skis were still made of wood and the equipment we know today was yet to be invented.

Then came the 1960s, and in the 1967/68 season, Piedmont Funivie di Torino’s first aerial tramway opened (with its famous blue and yellow cars), followed by the Les Suches and Chaz Dura ski tows and the Cerellaz and Belvedere chairlifts, basically run-throughs for cross-border relations with its cousins in the nearby La Rosière ski resort.

Today, all the hard work by Funivie Piccolo San Bernardo has paid off, allowing more than 450,000 visitors from all over the world to enjoy a ski area unique to its kind every year.
