Snowshoeing in La Thuile

Escape the stress of city life and work, immersing yourself in the rejuvenating embrace of nature. Let your gaze wander over the pristine white snow – this is the promise of snowshoeing in La Thuile. With frozen lakes, dense forests and majestic peaks, the endless natural beauty explains why many people choose group snowshoeing in La Thuile. It's the perfect way to combine physical and mental well-being, to socialise and enjoy the sublime beauty of the landscape.
Snowshoeing in La Thuile offers itineraries of varying lengths and difficulties.

There are relaxing routes suitable for families with children and beginners, as well as more challenging ones exceeding four hours, perfect for experts and the most physically fit. The common denominator? Stunning landscapes, scenic areas, wilderness and the vast expanses unique to the Wild Side of Mont Blanc.

A must-see is the route that follows the old mining paths, echoing La Thuile's rich history. Along this trail, you can explore the old miners' village, tunnel entrances and remnants of a thousand-year history where people once moved through the snow on skins – snowshoeing ante litteram – in a nature that never has and never will allow man to fully dominate.

Snowshoeing itineraries in La Thuile

Looking for a fabulous snowshoeing itinerary in La Thuile?

Petosan snowshoe hike

We recommend the Petosan snowshoe hike: a 4-kilometre route of medium difficulty in an area often referred to as a “natural postcard” of La Thuile, in both winter and summer, and not surprisingly featured in numerous advertisements. You’ll find a vast clearing, dazzling white snow, and a surreal silence perfect for reflection. All framed by the Mont Blanc range. It’s like stepping into a fairy tale or a picture-perfect landscape!
The route can also be travelled at night with appropriate torchlight equipment.

La Thuile Maison Blanche snowshoe hike

Another option is the La Thuile Maison Blanche snowshoe hike, also suitable for beginners and perfect for both snowshoeing and Nordic walking. Fully immersed in the forest, you’ll experience a serene nature bath among snow-covered trees and ancient paths.

La Cretaz snowshoe hike

The third option is the La Cretaz snowshoe hike, which is of medium difficulty. This slightly uphill trail winds through the woods and ends up at the La Cretaz mountain pasture, offering a spectacular vantage point over La Thuile. The entire 7-kilometre route enjoys plenty of sunlight.

The best time of year for snowshoeing in La Thuile is from December to March.
