Trekking in La Thuile
for children

Looking for family-friendly trekking routes for kids?

La Thuile offers a variety of options, as you may have already figured out. Here are a couple of great starting points to get you on your way. The first route leads from Colle San Carlo to Lake Arpy, a scenic 45-minute walk through the woods. Nestled at 2,066 metres, the lake is fed by Lake Pietra Rossa and sits in a picturesque basin between Mount Charvel and Becca Poignenta, to the left of Mount Colmet. On the right, together with your children, enjoy views of Monte della Croce, which offers a stunning panorama of La Thuile from its summit. As you stroll along the lake’s shore, you’ll be greeted by the majestic Grandes Jorasses, renowned granite peaks of the Mont Blanc range, admired by mountaineers worldwide.

Another ideal hike for children is the trail to the first of the three Rutor falls. Starting from La Joux, just 3 kilometres from La Thuile, follow trail no. 3 for about twenty minutes to reach the first waterfall, enjoying the refreshing spray and stunning scenery along the way. Afterwards, go back to the bridge, cross the waterfall and return on the opposite side to La Joux.
