3-6 JULY 2025

THE EVENT

The most prestigious circuit of Mountain Bike Downhill and Enduro in the world arrives at La Thuile in Valle d'Aosta! Get ready to experience the historic double appointment with the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill and Enduro World Cup scheduled from 3 to 6 July 2025.

La Thuile and the whole of Aosta Valley will welcome the best specialists in both Downhill and Enduro ready to battle until the last descent.

The 2025 UCI Mountain Bike Downhill and Enduro World Cup - La Thuile Valle d'Aosta is an unmissable event!

In particular, it is the fifth stage 2025 of the UCI Downhill circuit and the sixth stage of the UCI Enduro circuit.

Like the Thuile we are therefore part of an annual circuit that follows a precise calendar and which sees Italy interested in total in four locations:

May 9-11, Pietra Ligure - Finale Outdoor Region | Enduro

20-22 June, Val di Sole - Trentino | Cross Country and Downhill

June 27-29, Val di Fassa - Trentino | Enduro

3-6 July, La Thuile - Valle d'Aosta | Downhill and Enduro

Downhill mountain biking was born as a competitive discipline. It involves cyclists racing against the clock on a short track (usually lasting three to five minutes), dotted with technical elements such as jumps, drops and rocky sections. As the name suggests, downhill is based entirely on gravity and has no uphill sections.

Wins the fastest time at the end of the day. Downhill riders usually have only one chance to make their downhill race. Before that, they have the opportunity to learn the track during practice and to make a qualifying heats, which determines the starting order for the final - the fastest rider starts last.

Depending on the location, cyclists use a chair lift or a cable car to reach the start of the route. The highest level of downhill is represented by the UCI MTB Downhill World Cup, which organizes international races around the world and requires riders to accumulate a minimum number of UCI points to qualify for the event.

Mountain bike enduro races were born in Europe, following partly the format of motor rally and enduro motorcycle races. The concept was simple: reach the top of a mountain and descend by comparing yourself with the chronometer.

In general, modern enduro races involve 3 to 6 time trials (Special Trials, PS). The timed sections of the race are mainly downhill, but can vary in slope, length and difficulty. In the case of E-Enduro some PS can also be uphill. Between one PS and the other, there will be transfers, not timed, but with a set time of travel that are mostly uphill. Depending on the race, transfers may include sections where you need to push your bike, take a ski lift and/or ride in a traditional way.

Enduro combines elements from many different disciplines, from the physical fitness required for cross-country racing to the mental endurance needed for marathon races, to the bike handling and driving skills typical of downhill.

THE PROGRAM

The detailed schedule will be defined in the coming months, but this is the schedule for the 4 days of competition:

Thursday, July 3rd: Enduro Trials

Friday, July 4th: Downhill and Enduro Tests

Saturday 5 July: Downhill Qualifying and Downhill Semi-final Race

Sunday, July 6: Final Downhill Race

WORLD SERIES vs WORLD CUP, what's the difference?

La Thuile has hosted the Enduro World Series many times over the years. But what is the difference with the World Cup?

The UCI Mountain Bike World Series is a brand (created at the end of 2022 by agreement between UCI and Warner Bros. Discovery) that combines several disciplines of mountain biking under one brand.
These include: The

  • Cross-country Olympic (XCO)
  • Cross-country Short Track (XCC)
  • Downhill (DHI)
  • Enduro (EDR)

Within the UCI Mountain Bike World Series, the top level competitions for each discipline are called UCI World Cup. For example, the Downhill World Cup (DHI) is an integral part of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series. This unified structure allows you to organize events that host multiple disciplines in the same place and time, offering a consolidated platform for athletes and enthusiasts.

At the end, the UCI Mountain Bike World Series represents the overall set of mountain bike competitions, while the UCI World Cup refers to individual World Cup competitions for each specific discipline within this series.
