La Thuile opens the Fis calendar on 20th and 21st January 2019
Les than one month to the beginning of TELEMARK WORLD CUP. The races of La Thuile, Aosta Valley (Italy), will inaugurate the 2018/2019 FIS calendar of the discipline.
This will be a recurrence for La Thuile: after the huge success of the 2017 edition the town will welcome again the TELEMARK WORLD CUP on 20th and 21st January 2019. It is a significant recognition for the Valdôtain town. The FIS Commission rewarded the high level of the ski slopes, the quality of the provided services and of the accommodation structures, as well as the ability of organizing professionally some major sport events. The races will be held on the n. 3 – Franco Berthod ski slope, a challenging black slope which hosted three competitions of the FIS Ladies Ski World Cup in 2016
The athletes of the TELEMARK WORLD CUP will compete on 20th January 2019 in the Classic discipline (Men and Ladies) and on 21st January 2019 in the Sprint discipline (Men and Ladies).
In La Thuile there will be teams coming from Italy, Switzerland, France, Norway, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovenia and the USA. Among the women Amelie Reymond, the well-known Swiss champion, will be back after her pregnancy and will have to challenge the German star Johanna Holtzman. Speaking about men, there will be an ideal scrimmage between athletes coming from France, Germany and Norway.
During the race days the parterre will be easily joinable from the town centre to assist to the arrival of the athletes and to enjoy the last part of the descents. In the parterre area there will be a big screen, thank to which the spectators will be able to watch the live streaming of the races.
